How To Take Care Of Your Skin This Summer

Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise!

The first thing you want to do in your skincare routine is cleanse your skin. To do this we recommend using the Veil Cleansing Cream (£4.50) which is unperfumed for allergy free use and therefore suitable for those with sensitive skin however we still recommend doing a small patch test to ensure it is compatible with your skin. Simply apply the cleanser to your face using small circular motions. Don’t forget to get into all those nooks and crannies of your face like the sides of your nose and around your chin. Once you’ve thoroughly massaged the cleanser into your skin, it is now time for removal. For this step you can use sponges, muslin cloths, flannels or whatever you fancy really, you can even use your trusty hands. We recommend using nice warm water when removing your cleanser as it really helps to melt your makeup away, plus it is nice and soothing too. Why cleanse? Cleansing is an essential step to carry out to keep the skin nice and clean. By cleansing you remove any makeup that may be on the skin as well as any dirt and bacteria. If you did not do this step eventually your pores would become blocked with old makeup, sebum (the skins natural oily substance which keeps the skin lubricated and waterproof) and you would begin to experience breakouts, spots and blackheads. We recommend cleansing both in the morning and in the evening to ensure that your skin is kept in tip top condition. The next step you want to carry out is toning. To do this we recommend using the Veil Toning Lotion (£7.00) this is a product which combines the gentle but astringent properties of Witch Hazel and Rose Water. To apply this product, simply pop a little on a cotton pad and apply to the skin in circular motions. By carrying out this step you are removing any remaining cleanser and oil from the skin. This step should be carried out after cleansing and is an essential step you should carry right before you apply your Veil Cover Cream if you wish to get the maximum wear time out of your camouflage product. And finally you should moisturise the skin. For this step you should use a moisturiser that is suitable for your skin type. This step is perfect for ensuring that you keep dry skin at bay. However, please note that when applying moisturiser before the application of Veil Cover Cream you should leave roughly half an hour to an hour to ensure that your moisturiser is fully absorbed into your skin as this can alter the longevity and performance of the high coverage product. For best results, ship moisturising and apply Veil directly to your skin.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells that cling to the outer layer of your skin. Your skin is constantly working and generating new skin cells and when doing so old cells rise to the surface of your skin and gradually die. These cells build up on the skins surface and give it a dull, rough and dry appearance. By exfoliating you are removing these cells and dry flaky patches and in the process you make your skin feel smoother and more radiant. You are also removing excess oil too. It is also essential as dead skin cells can clog pores causing spots, blackheads and breakouts. For exfoliation we recommend using a scrub that is suitable for your skin type and skin sensitivity. As a rule we recommend exfoliating once a week although you should tailor frequency to your personal needs. However, you should be aware that you can in fact over exfoliate the skin which can leave the skin dry, irritated, sore and it can even cause the skin to produce more oil making it greasy and causing blemishes.

Drink plenty of water

And finally we recommend you should drink plenty of water to keep your skin in tip top condition. By drinking more water you are helping your skin to keep nice and hydrated. By increasing your water intake you skin can even appear more radiant and supple.
